HOW I SEE THINGS:
I was once asked what aspect of photography I enjoyed the most. The answer surprised me at first: “It’s The Waiting”, I replied. The questioner and I stood looking at each other with obvious surprise on our faces as a long moment of silence followed. As we later parted company, I couldn’t brush the sense of surprise and discovery from my mind...

“The Waiting” is a time of preparation, a time of centering, a time of allowing the expected and the unexpected to dance with each other; and above all, a time of still potentiality. The Waiting produces a state of allowing possibility to run its larger course and produce miracles that can often be recorded. It is The Waiting that helps to dissolve accumulated emotional baggage, in the stillness of a moment, that opens perception into a new relationship of light and form and color...

In The Waiting space, there is the opportunity to recall sensations, at the emotional and even biological level, from childhood and before, that foster complete absorption in the moment, while seeing dragons and elephants forming in the cumulonimbus above. It is this awareness, and, purposefully allowing time for The Waiting space, which open up a “seeing” that records images which seem worth sharing...
