Marketing and Distribution Tools

Member Archive Search Boxes: Members can easily add a search box to any Web site. When buyers initiate a search on a separate site, they are re-directed to your member archive Web site to view the search results.

This is a great way to quickly get buyers to your member archive from other Web sites that you maintain or even from your friends' and partners' Web sites. The more people linking to your member archive Web site can increase activity and sales.

To create this search box, add this code to your Web site:

Important: Replace the Xs with your Web site name. If your Web site is domain-pointed, use your URL instead of digitalrailroad.net.

RSS Feeds

RSS Feeds let you optimize buyer access to your content, but that's just the beginning:

  • Add RSS feeds to your marketing Web site or online portfolio.
  • Extend your member archive to Web sites who have an audience interested in your images.

For example: If you are a nature photographer, the most popular nature site on the Web could automatically add your fantastic images as thumbnails to their Web site directly from an RSS feed. These thumbnails will link back to the high resolution images protected at your member archive.

  • Increasing the visibility of your images leads to increased activity in your member archive.

"More than 30 percent of the companies adding RSS Feeds to their site's content are doing so because of customer demand." Jupiter Research

RSS Feeds are one of the most effective online marketing and PR strategies available today, and they are also amazingly easy to create:

  • Enter the content once and you're done
  • You don't have to know HTML
  • You don't need an IT department to load the content to your Web site
  • You can create your own custom feeds based on keywords.

To create and feature a custom feed

  1. Click Photo Feed in the top left section of the member archive header.
  2. Click Create Custom Feed.
  3. Enter your keywords to define the feed.
  4. Name your feed and click Create Custom Feed.
  5. Go to My Site Production. From the Photo Feeds menu, click Feature Photo Feeds.
  6. Choose a group (G), lightbox (L), or custom feed (C) from the left box and move it to the right, using the > button, to enable it.
  7. Click Submit.

Direct Links: You need to get buyers to your member archive and ‘direct links’ are one of the best way to get them there. Direct links increase activity in your member archive while, simultaneously, increasing the appearance of your member archive in search engine results

Every image, lightbox, and group in your member archive has a direct link associated with it. Add this link to sites across the Web, in marketing email, and promotional PDF files so that readers can connect to specific images in your member archive via those direct links.

Is your work appearing in articles or listings? This visibility is great for your business, but it's also a fantastic opportunity to have the writer link back to images and/or groups in your member archive.

Just copy the direct link from the image, lightbox, or group and paste it directly into the Web site, email, PDF, or article that you want to highlight.
