FOTO8 AND DIGITAL RAILROAD PARTNER TO MODERNIZE PHOTOGRAPHER AND BUYER WORKFLOW
New York and London Digital Railroad Inc. and Foto8 Ltd today announced a revolutionary new photo submission process with Digital Railroad's Web-based application services.
EI8HT Magazine and foto8.com will use Digital Railroad as its primary electronic submission process. Independent photographers will be able to easily submit their story proposals and images for review and publication using the online workflow and archive system.
This system used by Foto8 demonstrates Digital Railroad's promise for transforming visual story submissions to publications of any size, and allowing publications to spend more time on the editing process rather than repetitive production and workflow tasks.
"I am delighted to announce Foto8's new collaboration with Digital Railroad, which provides an intuitive, powerful online application for managing and marketing image collections," said Jon Levy, Foto8 founder and editor. "We look forward to photographers seizing this opportunity to submit their story proposals directly to EI8HT Magazine, while opening up new avenues of time to produce and deliver photo stories to global media outlets. This minimizes expenses, cuts production time, and frees us to focus on our editorial missionpresenting important stories than need be told," he added.
Photography submission to publications can be expensive and tedious. Photographers submitting images and story ideas to Foto8, for instance, normally must print images and documents, or prepare CDs and DVDs, and send via FedEx, many times internationally. To accommodate editorial requests, photographers may incur more production time and shipping charges. In addition, organizing submissions into visually compelling stories is an extensive process for photographers, and costly to review by global media publications.
Digital Railroad promises to streamline the editorial review processes at Foto8. Editors receive a digital lightbox submission of images from photographers, which can be forwarded among staff for review and final decision. There is no need to pass around CDs, forward emails or distribute printed proposals, as it is all handled in the Digital Railroad workflow and archiving system.
"We're honored to work with Foto8 and help Foto8's contributing photographers more easily propose important news, issues and stories for publication," said Evan Nisselson, founder and chief executive officer. "We built Digital Railroad to empower photographers. We enable them to easily submit their photography to both magazines and competitions, simultaneously reducing repetitive workflow and production for photographers and publications.”
Digital Railroad's Web-based application services transform the individual photographer’s business. Digital Railroad automates repetitive workflow tasks, as well as streamlines delivery of images and communications with clientsproviding photographers an online searchable archive that unlocks potential image revenue.
