Aina Photo Agency
To see Afghanistan through the eyes of Afghan people is Aina Photo's greatest ambition.

Aina Photo is the first Afghan photo-journalism agency. Based in Kabul, Aina Photo offers to the Afghan community, the opportunity to tell their story and their daily life after 23 years of conflict and political instability. An ambitious project which quickly attracted and beneficiated from the support of professional partners.

In 2002, Manoocher Deghati, an internationally renown photo-reporter (Time magazine, Agence France Press, etc.) set up the first school of photo-journalism in Afghanistan, supported by the non-governmental organisation Aina.

New generation NGO, Aina, whose vocation is humanitarian, strives since the day of its creation in 2001 to see the emergence of independent medias and cultural projects in places where democracy stays a fragile value. It privileges the formation of the media and culture's local actors and the access to new technologies.

Post-Taliban Afghanistan became its first "building site". About 15 Afghan people, men and women, had the chance to train as photo-journalists.

After this apprenticeship, some became the core of Aina Photo. Today, the first agency of the kind in the country, has a network of many Afghan photographers spread over Afghanistan's main cities.
