Gilbert Mercier
Gilbert Mercier is a French Filmmaker/Photographer based in the US since 1983.

He started shooting still photographs at the age of 13. His passion for images came from looking at the work of the great photojournalists of the past; Atget,Smith,Capa,Evans, Brassai but mainly Cartier-Bresson. After shooting freelance in Europe in the late 70's early 80's, he decided to move to America.

His abilities with still images found a natural transition into Cinema. At first, Gilbert started working as an Art Director and Production Designer then went on to write and produce. He never gave up still photography, having work feature in Publications and prints sold to private collectors.

The site is www.mercyphotography.com, the first study is about the impact of Katrina on New-Orleans. The second will be a photo study about Homeless in America.

Gilbert wants to give back and help, in order to do that 20% of the proceeds generated by the website will be donated to Habitat For Humanity.
