So here are some basic facts about Kristjan
Born 261163 Kopavogur Iceland
Got interested in Photography when he whathced his mother run a local newspaper from the kitchen desk in their home in Neskaupstadur east Iceland.
Did not do much about it
Got more interested in photography after a hitch-hiking tour in Iceland with his danish friend Anders and his fathers old canonet (wich he still uses from time to time)
Still he did not do any thing about it and took up studies in sociology and media
Still things where not right so he left school got some work and bought him self his first camera
After the reaction to his first exhibition, a year later, he was still not convinced, even though he sold his first print and got some 1 prize in a weekly magazines photo competition that year(for multiple exposure image)
Computers were the things of the future. So he found a job in a computer company only to realize, after some years, that this was just half of the fun
Now he gave up to him self and decided that he wanted to become a photographer. Only a year later, on 1 of May 1989, he got a job as a press photographer at a daily newspaper in Akureyri North Iceland.
This proofed to be possibly his best move. Not only did he get a lot of experience ( being the only Photographer at the paper) but also did he find his wife in Akureyri, (or she him, different angels, different pictures.)
After moving back to Kopavogur where he worked as a freelance Photographer for magazines and advertizing agencies he decided to move for one last time to Gothenburg, and finaly study Photography
At school in Gothenburg his main emphasis was on advertising and commercial photography, but there was some thing missing. Only ten days from the final exhibition some things clikked and he found what was missing. The computer.
Staying in the computer room for the next 10days -working on a 386 pc with photostyler and canon zerox machine with scaner modul- he took up on working on images made from short poems he had made, and images he shot or found in his files. The outcome was variation of feelings. Images and short poems made out to his wife
Not understanding fully what had happend this was to color almost all of the things he has done since.
Kristjan is now living and working in Kopavogur Iceland still trying to figure out what happend and where this might leed him.
